The explanation of the Small Catechism offered here was first published by Joseph Stump in 1935. It is a modern language examination of the doctrines of the Church as professed by the historic United Evangelical Lutheran Church at that time. The explanations and views expressed do not, in all cases, represent a current understanding as taught in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
