One of the oldest institutions of the Church is the practice of praying the hours. The tradition of prayer at set times of the day has its roots in antiquity, and is a common heritage of Christians, Muslims and Jews. The structure of the Liturgy of the Hours, Divine Liturgy or Daily Office is built around the reading of the psalms, with canticles, readings and intercessions.
While Morning and Evening prayer are the two major parts of this tradition preserved in most denominational service books today, the hours of Christian prayer hearken back to a time when the tolling of the bells marked the passage of the day.
The offerings here come from a variety of sources. We invite you to try them, and fit them into your schedule.
